Here are my PICs from last Saturday’s QCCC All Chevy Car Show. The show was sponsored by City Chevrolet and organized/hosted by QCCC. It was held at the Hendricks Motor Sports Center in Concord near the Lowes Track. We also had support from Hagerty Insurance for judging and trophies which were really nice (all glass/crystal). It was a beautiful day and we had about 230 Chevy cars and trucks. We had a ton of Corvettes as we had participation by multiple Corvette Clubs in addition to Queen City (Victory Lane, Road Runners, Capital City (Columbia, SC), Kingsport (Tenn), Lebanon, Ridge Runners, Triad, Rock Hill Cruisers, Carolina Corvettes…..). There was a large Camaro turnout as well. The show included a silent auction, DJ music, auto parts vendors, door prizes, and a 50/50 that netted the winner $900+, and a tour for charity of Rick Hendrick’s Private Car Collection. The Corvette Museum attended as well with a tent offering museum items for sale. QCCC’s two selected charities received checks for $4,000 each and the Hendrick Marrow Program of Be The Match® received about $4000 as well from the private museum tours conducted at this show. A funny thing happened with the 50/50 drawing, the winner turned out to be Cam Stewart who is the General Manager of City Chevrolet and is our club sponsor…..he donated his half of the 50/50 to the Hendrick Marrow Program to push its total over 4 grand.
Another funny thing happened with awards. In addition to best of show/runner-up trophies by car class (Chevy cars by years, Chevy Trucks by year, Camaros by year, Non-QCCC Corvettes by Class, and QCCC Corvettes by Class), Hagerty presented a Best Corvette by Color (Red, Blue, Black, Yellow, White Silver, Green, Maroon) award. When the “Best White” Corvette was announced, all I could say was ‘REALLY???”. The Hargerty guy said “Yes, Really…come up here and get your award!”. Apparently adding the chrome louvers, swapping out the Rally Wheels for American Racing Torque Thruster II wheels, and painting the calipers Bright Blue got the attention of the Hagerty Judges…..I think they just liked the older C2’s and C3’s but it was nice to get the award.
